We welcomed twenty-four members to the meeting; it was particularly good to see Dave W after his numerous travels and work commitments!!
2 Apologies had been received from Bill & Pinky, Ian & Jayne, Nigel & Sarah, Jeff & June, Stuart, Chris, Les & Harry.
3 Barry displayed to the meeting a Thank You Certificate that had been received from Blood Bikes Wales for our recent donation of £2,000 from the 2024 Wing Ding. The certificate will be included in our next WingSpan report and repeated efforts will be made to include it with a report in the local newspaper, the Glamorgan Star.
4 Lester confirmed that nine Wings were going to the Belgium Treffen. Apart from Dave P, the others are meeting on Wednesday 7 May, 2025, 12 noon at Magor Services M4 (front car park) travelling then to the Harwich Ferry. A note concerning the precise travel arrangements has now been issued to those travelling.
5 The GWOCGB Wing Ding and the GWEF Treffen calendars for 2025 are now available on the GWOCGB Website.
6 GWOCGB On-Line Voting for National Committee positions is still open until 26 April, 2025.
7 The details of a Turkey & Tinsel Christmas Weekend for December, 2025 in Torquay had been circulated by email to all members on 17 March, 2025. Following a discussion, it was agreed to proceed with a booking for the weekend 5 to 7 December, 2025 at Torquay. Barry agreed to circulate to all members a further email giving payment details for those wishing to attend. The cut-off date for booking is 30 April, 2025.
8 If anybody has not had a CRASH Card for their helmet, please contact Barry.
9 The March, 2025 Vale Food Bank Newsletter had been received which continued to show a need for food supplies for vulnerable families. It was hoped that Roger could motivate Unilever Limited into supplying some pot noodles for us to pass on to the organisation.
10 Barry reported that all the necessary supplies for the Static Display trailer had been purchased from Club funds at a cost of about £75.00. They would be housed in the trailer which was now stored in the container.
11 The region would be providing a static display at the Bargoed May Fair in Bargoed Town on Saturday 3 May, 2025 from 0900 to 1700. It was agreed that all Wingers meet at the Tesco Superstore Car Park, New Road, Ystrad Mynach, Hengoed, CF82 7DP at 0900 on the day and travel to Bargoed in convoy.
12 We will also be supporting the Classic & Contemporary Motorcycle Show at Llanishen High School, Cardiff on Saturday to Sunday 3/4 May, 2025.Organised by VMCC. Three regional Wings will be there and entry tickets have been issued. Visitors are welcome at an entry cost of £5.00.
13 Names for the Panteg House Static Display on Saturday 17 May, 2025 were taken at the meeting. For those exhibiting, entry is still open – speak to Barry, please meet at the McDonalds Car Park, A4042, New Inn, Pontymoile, Pontypool, NP4 0XB at 10.00 on the day.
14 We will also be exhibiting at the Field of Dreams Classic Vehicle Show on Sunday 1 June, 2025 at Riverside Holiday Park, Swansea from 1000 to 1600. Please confirm attendance before or at our next meeting. Assembly point will be Cardiff West Services, M4 at 0845 leave at 0900.
15 Weather permitting, we are accepting the Invitation from Ms Carrie Watkins of Blackwood to take her aged Mother-in-Law on a Wing Bike Ride, picking her up from Treowen, Newbridge, Gwent on Monday or Tuesday 19/20 May, 2025 at 1430. Let us give her a good show!!.
16 A substantial reduction for his motorcycle insurance renewal has been received from Carol Nash for regional member Lester Bailey. The insurance cost for his GL1800 went from £700 last year to £200 this year. It is therefore worth checking with them when your renewal becomes due.
17 Dates for your diary: Weather permitting, Saturday 29 November, 2025 – Caerphilly River of Light Lantern Parade, and for those not going to Torquay, Saturday 6 December, 2025 – Bargoed Music and Light Lantern Parade.

20 AOB:
a. Malcolm emphasised the importance of the GWOCGB AGM taking place on Sunday 27 April, 2025 at Bromsgrove. The future of the Club will be in the hands of those members attending.
b. A pair of gauntlet type leather motorcycle gloves have been donated to the region, in return for a donation. They will be on display at our next meeting.
c. Lester kindly invited all South Wales Wings members to attend Angela’s 60th Birthday Party on Saturday 17 May, 2025 at the Cwm Conservative Club, Mill Terrace, Cwm, NP23 7SR from 1930. Please note it is a “Cash Only” bar.
21 The raffle raised £29.00 for regional funds, thanks to Chris and all concerned.
22 The date of our next Meeting will be Sunday, 11 May, 2025 at Taffs Well RFC starting at 1830 – please note that several of our members will be on their way back from the Belgium Treffen so will not be there.
