3 Malcolm reported on the Brynmawr Classic Car & Bike Show that had taken place on Sunday 28 July, 2024. From SWW Three Trikes and two solos had attended a very successful Show. Plenty of bikes had turned up but not many stayed the duration of the event. The weather was good, the gazebo was really helpful and the troops left the Show at about 1430. One for the diary in the future.
4 Barry reported on the South Wales Classic Car Club (SWCCC) coffee morning Show that took place at the Cherry Orchard pub in Barry on 3 August, 2024. Three SWW solos and one “quad” took part in the first of many smaller shows that SWCCC intended to organise during the Autumn. About ten classic cars also exhibited. Weather was good but public turn-out was disappointing. The Show ended about 1300 and the South Walians all moved to The Ship in Barry for lunch accompanied by a motor cyclist who had come from Bridgend on his way back home in the Midlands; he also joined the gang to Barry Island for an ice crèam.
5 A new invitation had been received to attend the Swansea Motorcycle Show on Sunday 18 August, 2024 from 1030 to 1530 at the Swansea Bus Museum, SA1 7DA. As most of the members that would generally show their Wings would be at the Irish Treffen it was decided not to attend this year’s Show.
6 The same situation arose with the invitation received from South Wales Classic Car Club for an appearance at the Cwm Talwg pub in Barry, CF62 7FG on Tuesday 20 August from 1800, just turn up no booking necessary.
7 The invitation from Fonmon Castle Classic Vehicle Show at Rhoose on Saturday 7 September, 2024 from 1000 to 1600 still stood and seven South Walians will be attending. Malcolm will organise the meeting arrangements to enable a convoy arrival as Barry is in Bristol that day.
8 Barry reported on the South Wales Wing Ding that had been held at Caerphilly RFC during July. A De-brief sheet is attached to these Notes for information.
9 Anybody not had a CRASH Card for their helmet, if so please contact Barry.

e. Remember that the fancy dress theme for the event is Farming.
12 The possibility of the region having a Christmas Away Weekend was discussed. It was agreed that Barry explore the availability and cost of The Sandringham Hotel in Weston Super Mare where we had been previously. The suggested dates being 6,7 & 8 December, 2024. Please note your diaries now.
13 In view of this year’s successful Wing Ding it was agreed we look into the possibility of having a “Drop In” in July, 2025. As Taffs Well RFC had indicated that they would like us to use their premises for such an event, further discussions and costings would take place with them.

c. Malcolm reported that GWOCGB are looking for Nominations for the various GWOCGB awards that are available. Full details are on the GWOCGB Website and the GWOCGB Full Member’s Page of Facebook.
d. Dave McF suggested that we ought to consider not handing over all the Wing Ding raffle receipts to BBW, keeping some back for the region. Barry pointed out that Christine and Roy had worked tirelessly with their community to sell tickets with the promise that the money was going to a registered charity and not to the region.
e. Brian asked if there was a possibility of ordering the Touring Shirt that had been recently advertised by GWOCGB. It was pointed out that Wales has its own version (see attached image) and Barry would be taking orders, a minimum number of ten would be required before an order could be placed. Contact Barry if you would like one.
18 The raffle raised £31.00 for regional funds, thanks to all for donations and buying tickets.
19 Date of next meeting – Sunday, 8 September, 2024, at Taffs Well RFC starting at 1830.
