Meeting Notes February, 2026

We welcomed twenty-three members to the meeting.

Apologies had been received from Bill & Pinky, Bob & Sonja, Ian & Jayne, Nigel & Sarah, Jeff & June, Phil & Joy, Myra, Bruno, Brian, Les and Harry.

If anyone has not had a CRASH card, please see Barry afterwards.

A number of thankyous had been received from the Care/Children’s Homes that we had supplied Christmas gifts. A big thank you to you all.

The Vale Foodbank Monthly newsletter had been received and it continued to show an ever-increasing family/children need for support. As it was currently not possible for us to donate Pot Noodles, nothing coming from Unilever, Barry proposed that instead we might donate items of food that were desperately needed by the charity. The majority of the meeting agreed to proceed with this idea. Barry therefore suggested that each member provide one food item and bring it to future regional monthly meetings; the Officers would then over time gather all the donated items and deliver them to the Food Bank. The Food Bank was in most need of the following: tinned tomatoes, coffee, tinned carrots, tinned sweetcorn, tins of corned beef, packets of rice pudding, sugar and UHT milk. This would be done for a trial period to gauge how it might work.

South Wales Fire & Rescue Services intended to arrange a free Biker Down three-hour course. Any more names to Barry please, date still to be advised.

Barry provided an update on the 2026 Christmas Away Weekend in Torquay. It will be from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December at the Torbay Hotel, Torquay. It will consist of bed, breakfast and evening meal plus a free drinks voucher. Entertainment will be provided by a Tina Turner tribute act. Cost is £119.95 per person, an extra £25 for a single room. Non – refundable Deposit £40 per person payable on booking which will be up to 30 June, 2026, balance then due 1 October, 2026. If interested, names to Barry.

The 2026 South Wales Wing Ding will take place during the period 14 to 19 July, 2026. Venue needs to be sorted and Eddie agreed to talk urgently with the Bedwas RFC Secretary to see whether they were seriously interested in our attendance and, if so, when a site visit could be arranged.

The meeting agreed to provide a Ride Out for an 80-year-old OAP, same lady as last year, would like to go out again in April/May, 2026.
