We welcomed 24 members to the meeting. It was especially good to see Angela, Linda and Luci there. It was also good to see that June is progressing nicely after her leg operation

3 The renewal of your GWOCGB 2023 Membership is now overdue, thank you for those that have paid. However, there are several that are still outstanding. Renewal forms are available from the GWOCGB Website or from Malcolm or Barry.
4 Jeff reported on the Santa Escort Run at Bishton that took place on 18 December, 2022. Unfortunately, due to the appalling weather Jeff had been on his own to transport Santa around the villages of Bishton and Llanwern. That said, Santa had still managed to keep 62 children very happy with his delivered presents. Here’s to hoping that the Run Out in 2023 will be blessed with better weather.
5 Barry reported that a Widow in Care and her family in Pencoed were looking for our help to sell a GL1500. It was agreed to visit the Wing next week and see what arrangements could be made to assist in the sale at a fair price.

a. Malcolm reported that at present there were only four Wing Dings planned for the 2023 GWOCGB Calendar. It was hoped that other regions, either singly or jointly with other regions, might be able to organise additional events. Some South Walians are also planning to attend various International Treffens with Ireland and Holland being favourite.
b. Tink Carter spoke about the immense role that Bob had in his lifetime played in the Goldwing Club both nationally and locally. The huge turnout at his funeral just showed how much he was loved by the Goldwing fraternity. She also thanked numerous people within the region for the help and support she had received following his death. It had been a very, very hard time for her and she had struggled very badly. Emotionally she had not been able to be involved at that time with the regional activities. However, she was now able to move on and was delighted that she was able to start to follow in Bob’s footsteps to honour him in being involved with the Club. She hoped to achieve some of the reputation that Bob had by being committed to her hobby. A toast was raised in Bob’s memory.
c. A few members recounted stories of ‘Vlard’ and what he had meant to all Wingers.
d. We heard that both Eddie and Phil had retired from full time employment – hopefully more time out on the Wing when the weather gets better.
12 Barry was delighted to announce that Christine will achieve a milestone 80th Birthday on 22 January, 2023. We congratulated her in the usual way and after the meeting joined with her and several members of her family in sharing refreshments kindly donated by the members.
13 Thank you letters had been received from the Care Homes that we had supported with Christmas gifts of chocolates and biscuits.
14 The raffle raised £27.00 for regional funds thanks to all for their support.
15 The date of our next meeting will be on Sunday, 12 February, 2023, starting at 1830 at Taffs Well RFC. At that meeting the presentation of our cheque to Blood Bikes Wales for £2,500 will take place and they will be updating us on their operations.
