Meeting Notes June 2025

We welcomed twenty-one members to the meeting, it was particularly pleasing to see Jeff who had been absent for a considerable time.

Apologies had been received from Bill & Pinky, Bob & Sonja, Ian & Jayne, Nigel & Sarah, June, Chris, Shane, Stuart, Harry, Dave P and Dave W,

Malcolm provided brief feedback on the Belgium Treffen which had been attended by nine South Walian Wings. It had been an interesting visit; the full details of which can be found in the July, 2025 edition of the WingSpan.

Lester provided an update on the South Wales planned trip to the Irish Treffen in Birr, County Offaly in August. Nine South Walians are attending which will include a ferry journey and a hotel stopover. Watch this space for a report on the trip.

The GWOCGB Wing Ding and GWEF Treffen calendars for 2025 are still available on the GWOCGB Website.

If anyone has not had a CRASH card, please contact Barry.

Barry reported on the May Vale Foodbank Monthly newsletter that had been received, 349 adults and 192 children had been fed during May thanks to numerous and generous donations. It was hoped that we might be able to recommence support when Unilever again made Pot Noodles available to us.

The Panteg House Classic Vehicle show held on 17 May,2025 was successful with South Wales Wings being well represented. The day raised over £700 for their chosen charity, Noak’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales. We had received a genuinely nice thankyou both on the day and afterwards from the organisers together with an invitation to the 2026 Show. A full report will be in the July edition of the WingSpan.

Barry also reported on the bucket list ride out for the elderly lady that took place on 19 May, 2025 with seven South Walian Wings attending. The lady was over the moon as was the family as the lady’s dream had been fulfilled and the family generously donated £50.00 for our charity. Again, a full report will feature in the July edition of the WingSpan.

Unfortunately, due to the expected harsh weather and extremely high winds we did not attend the Dinas Powys Rotary Classic Vehicle Show held on 26 May, 2025. The organisers said the Show went well although substantially down on exhibitors and public. We have been invited to their 2026 Show.

The Field of Dreams Classic Vehicle Show was held at Swansea on 1 June, 2025 and although several South Walians had indicated that they would be attending due to assorted reasons, Barry was the only one that turned up at the meet point. As a result, we did not attend, which was very disappointing. Hopefully, we can do better next year!

Malcolm reported on a successful albeit, somewhat damp Trago Mills Classic Bike Day, held on Saturday 7 June, 2025. Six Wings had attended which was just as well as the expected other motorcycle clubs failed to materialise. Six other machines did however, make it in the rain. Fortunately, there was shelter for the riders although the bikes got wet and needed several dry offs to look pristine. As usual, many of the attending public were extremely interested in the Wings and a couple of SWW meeting invitations were distributed.

We have received a very nice Certificate of Appreciation from Blood Bikes Wales for the £2,000 donation raised at our 2024 Wing Ding held in Caerphilly.
