Meeting Notes May, 2025

1     We welcomed fourteen members to the meeting, plus a new potential member Mr James Curley from Llanishen, Cardiff.

2     Apologies had been received from Bill & Pinky, Ian & Jayne, Nigel & Sarah, Jeff & June, Roy, Stuart, Chris, Dave W, Harry, Malcolm & Irene, Lester, Gerald, Shane, Myra, Dave P, John, Kelvyn & Brian.

3     The Belgium Treffen had been well supported particularly by the Brits with GB coming first with the highest attendance of forty-four including nine from South Wales. Full report to be provided next month.

4     The GWOCGB Wing Ding and the GWEF Treffen calendars for 2025 are still available on the GWOCGB Website.

5     The GWOCGB AGM had been held in April at Bromsgrove. Barry read out Malcolm’s report on the meeting. The formal minutes will be available shortly on the Website.

6     Barry reported that the Turkey & Tinsel Christmas Weekend for 5/7 December, 2025 in Torquay has been booked and deposits paid with seventeen from South Wales attending and twenty from other GWOCGB regions. The balance of the weekend cost is due on 17 October, 2025, Barry will be reminding members and guests accordingly.

7     If anybody has not had a CRASH Card for their helmet, please contact Barry.

8     Barry reported on the static display at the Bargoed May Fair in Bargoed Town on Saturday 3 May, 2025. Five Wings had attended the event on a very hot day. It had been very well supported by the public and plenty of interest shown in the bikes. £20.00 had been received from Caerphilly County Borough Council for our display. The static display trailer had been used for the first time very successfully.

9     Barry also reported on the Classic & Contemporary Motorcycle Show at Llanishen High School, Cardiff on Saturday/Sunday 3/4 May, 2025.Organised by VMCC. Three attendees from South Wales had exhibited. The event was well supported by the public on the Saturday but not so much on the Sunday. Congratulations to all our attendees who had received various awards especially to Eddie who had won the public’s choice trophy for the best bike in the Show.

10  The Panteg House Static Display at Griffithsttown takes place on Saturday 17 May, 2025, 1000 to 1600. The assembly point for attendees is McDonalds Car Park, New Inn, Pontymoile, Pontypool, NP4 0XB, meeting at 0915.

11  Weather permitting, a bucket list ride out for Carrie Watkins of Newport aged Mother-in-Law will take place on. Monday 19 May,2025 at 1415. For all those available, PLEASE meet at 101 Fflorens Road, Treowen, Newbridge, Gwent, NP11 3DU. Volunteers required, solos and trikes.

12  Dinas Powys Rotary Classic Vehicle Show will take place at Sully on Bank Holiday Monday 26 May, 2025 Please meet at Barry’s 8 St Teilo Close, Dinas Powys, CF64 4TY at 0830 for tea, coffee and bacon rolls leaving at 0915.

13  The Field of Dreams Classic Vehicle Show will take place on Sunday 1 June, 2025 at Riverside Holiday Park, Swansea from 1000 to 1600. Assembly point, Cardiff West Services M4, back car park, at 0845 leave at 0900.

14  We have received an invitation to the Bedwas & Machen Transport and Motor Day on Sunday 22 June, 2025 12 noon to 1600 at the BTM Community Garden, CF83 8YB. Names next month please.

15  We have also received an Invitation to attend the Brynmawr Classic Car and Bike Show on Sunday 27 July, 2025 in Brynmawr Town Centre from 1000 to 1400 – names next month please.

16  Dates for your diary: Weather permitting = Saturday 29 November, 2025 – Caerphilly River of Light Lantern Parade. For those not going to Torquay, Saturday 6 December, 2025 – Bargoed Music and Light Lantern Parade.

19  AOB:

a.    Les reported that he was on the mend following a fall which had injured his leg.

b.    Steve reported that the Gloucestershire Vintage and Country Extravaganza is taking place on 1, 2 and 3 August, 2025 at the South Cerney Airfield, Cirencester, GL1 5JD. Full details will be provided at next month’s meeting.

20  The raffle raised £18.00 for regional funds. Thanks to all concerned.
