Meeting Notes November, 2025

         1     We welcomed twenty-three members to the meeting. It was especially good to see Stuart and Bob & Sonya. We also welcomed back Jeff, after a                       period of serious illness, good to see you and get fully well soon Jeff.

2     Apologies had been received from Bill & Pinky, Nigel & Sarah, Phil & Joy, Irene, Dave W, Shane, Bruno, Brian, Tom and Harry.

3     If anyone has not had a CRASH card, please contact Barry.

4  Weather permitting, we have been invited to take part in the Caerphilly Council Parade of Light, Lantern Parade on Friday 21 November, 2025 at 1800. Five members indicated their availability and meet up arrangements before the parade would be made shortly.

5     For those not going to Torquay, Saturday 6 December, 2025 is the Bargoed Music and Light Lantern Parade at 1700, unfortunately no one was available, so Caerphilly Council would be informed accordingly.

6     South Wales Fire & Rescue Services still intended to arrange a free Biker Down three-hour course, date to be advised. Any more names to Barry please.

7     An update on the Christmas Away Weekend in Torquay, from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 December will be circulated this week, so please check your emails.

8     Stuart is still looking to view locally a Squire D21 camping trailer, has anyone got one he can see?

9     The 2026 South Wales Wing Ding is confirmed as being held between 14 to 19 July, 2026. The venue is still to be advised, further information on Bedwas RFC site’s availability is awaited.

10 It was noted that the storage of our Container and Caravan with effect from 1 November, 2025 was going to be £600 per year following a change of site ownership. After a discussion, it was agreed that the caravan be disposed of possibly, after the 2026 Wing Ding, if an alternative site could be found. It was also agreed to accept the charge of £300 per year for the container as Eddie advised that no further downward price negotiation was possible. Eddie was also thanked for providing the free site storage for many, many years and donating the liveried caravan.

11 It was agreed that we are going to collect chocolates and biscuits for the Care Homes this Christmas. Donations to be brought to the December meeting. It was also agreed that we would not be making donations in place of member Christmas cards this year.

12 Malcolm reported that three members of the GWOCGB National Committee (NC) had left their posts and replacements were being sought. The posts of Treffen Co-Ordinator, Treasurer and International Representative were vacant, if anyone was interested.

13 Malcolm also reported on the GWOCGB Open Meeting held in October at Bromsgrove. It had been a good meeting and minutes would shortly be published on the GWOCGB Website, under the Gen Sec section.

14 However, Malcolm further advised that several difficulties were being currently experienced by the Club at National level and more information would become available to the region following a Zoom meeting held between the NC and the Reps on Monday 10 November at 1930.

a. Away Weekend Torquay 5 to 7 December, 2025.

b. South Wales Wing Ding 14 to 19 July, 2026.

16  Finances as at 8 November, 2025:

a.   Current Account £4.00, Deposit Account £3,932.41.

17 AOB:

a.   Barry reported that he had recently circulated by email information on a special event taking place in June, 2026 concerning a Duncan Mitchell Anniversary. More details can be found on the GWOCGB Website.

b.   Malcolm advised that 2026 will be hosting several regional Wing Dings and European Treffens. Regional members were asked to check out the GWOCGB Website if you want to fill your diaries with numerous visits.

18 The raffle raised the sum of £28.00 for regional funds. Thanks to Chris and all those who donated prizes and purchased tickets.

19   The date of our next meeting is Sunday, 14 December, 2025, at Taffs Well RFC starting at 1830. This meeting will be followed by a social gathering. You are therefore invited to bring along something savoury and something sweet to share.
