1 We welcomed seventeen people to the meeting including ex-member John Abaco and potential new member Dave Horn from Dinas Powys, owner of a GL1800, 2009 registration.
2 Apologies had been received from Bill & Pinky, Bob & Sonja, Ian & Jayne, Nigel & Sarah, Eddie & Sue, Jeff & June, Phil & Joy, Lester, Bruno, Stuart, Brian, Les, David P and Harry.
3 In the absence of Eddie and Ray who had attended the Swansea Festival of Motorcycles, a report would be received next month.
4 Malcolm provided feedback on the British Treffen held this year at Bishop Auckland. Ten South Walians had attended a highly successful Treffen which hosted excellent weather and very scenic run outs. 238 inscriptions had been received together with 30 Day Visitors; 11 countries being represented. A full report will appear in the October edition of the Wing Span.
5 Malcolm also reported on the Irish Treffen which had taken place at Birr, in County Offaly, Eire. Fifteen South Walians had attended a good Treffen with on occasions typical Irish chaos. Weather could have been better, but an enjoyable time was had by all. 190 had inscribed and 10 countries were represented. Again, full report in WingSpan.
6 Malcolm informed the meeting that eight South Walians had attended the Llandudno Light Parade which was remarkably successful with 96 Wings taking part in the actual parade. Weather was disappointing over the weekend and the trip home particularly wet.
7 Barry reported on a surprise birthday ride-out that had been arranged by her husband for one of Angela’s school teacher friends. Lester, Gerald, Vaughan and Barry had provided the escort with the birthday girl being pillion for Lester dressed in Angela’s motorcycle gear. She was waved off from Goytre Primary School, Penperlleni by her fellow teachers and many of the school children. She was gobsmacked with the surprise ride which took about an hour and was incredibly grateful to the bikers involved.
8 The feedback on the Sunbeam Motorcycle Club – Ride – In Bike and Scooter Show which took place in September will be received next month as Eddie had attended the event but was absent from the meeting.

10 Barry informed the meeting that the August edition of the Vale Foodbank Monthly newsletter had been received. During the month 346 adults and 181 children had been fed from the Foodbank’s reserves, this included 62 first time households.
11 We have received an invitation and we will attend the first Rougemont School Classic Car Show on Saturday 20 September, 2025 from 1000 to 1700. Venue is the school at Malpass Road, Newport, NP20 6QB. Weather permitting, please let Barry know soonest if you would like to attend. Meeting point is the School at 0930ish.

13 South Wales Fire & Rescue Services intend to arrange a free Biker Down three-hour course. Any more names to Barry please?
14 Barry provided an update on the Christmas Away Weekend in Torquay. It is from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 December. Cost £119.95 per person. We now have forty-three people attending, which included 19 from South Wales and others from Trent Wings, Centre Wings and Devon & Cornwall Wings. The £40 non-refundable deposit has been paid by all attendees, the balance of £79.95 per person is due on 10 October, 2025, ideally being paid by BACS. Barry will circulate the BACS details for payment on 1 October, 2025.
15 The dates of the 2026 South Wales Wing Ding are confirmed as 14 to 19 July, 2026. A provisional booking of Caerphilly RFC has been made for the event pending any other suggestions from members.

18 AOB:
a. Barry informed the meeting that two pairs of motorcycle trousers had been donated to the region. They were of particularly good quality and were sized XL and 3XL If you are interested, please contact Barry soonest.
b. Malcolm reported that we had received an invitation from Lincolnshire Wings to attend a Social Weekend in Skegness from 3 to 6 October at the Caravan Park, the previously planned Skegness Light Parade had been cancelled but the Social Weekend was still going ahead. Full details available from Malcolm.
c. Malcolm had booked a Caribbean Cruise for Irene and himself in March, 2026. He had received an invite from the organisers to take part in a “Find Shaun the Sheep” competition whilst they were on board. How strange is that!!!!!! Our own “Shaun” being on the top table at every SWW meeting.
