4 The 2024 Dates for a Show with Merthyr Scooter Club at the Labour Club, Merthyr Tydfil have been provided, watch this space for a precise Saturday date.
5 GWOCGB Membership fees are now overdue, most of you have renewed but some are still outstanding. Please remember £28 single, £35 Joint.
6 The Treffen Pre Inscription form is available on the GWOCGB Website. It is £50 per person for Rutland Showground.
7 Three members and two ex-members (Craig & Harry) travelled to the “Kickback” Custom/Classic Motorcycle Show on Saturday 13 April, 2024 at Malvern Three Counties Showground. There were vast numbers of bikers attending with an exceptionally long queue to enter the event. Two large halls housed quite a few custom and classic bikes. There were a small number of stall holders offering various bits for many bikes and clothing of all sorts. Very expensive food units and at £15 entrance charge I can honestly say it was not value for money. Will not be going again. At least however, it was a good run out for four Wings and a BMW.
8 Several South Walians are planning to go to the Dutch Treffen at De Steeg, at a different site, from 15 to 20 May, 2024. Travelling to Harwich, boarding the overnight Ferry to Hook of Holland, then only ninety miles to the Treffen site. We now have seven Wings travelling to Holland and Lester has handed out the meet up arrangements and fuel/comfort stop information.
9 The invitation to attend the Classic Vehicle Show at Panteg House, Griffithstown on Saturday 18 May, 2024 from 1000 to 1700 has been accepted by those not travelling to Holland and names of the interested parties will be submitted to the organisers next week.
10 The Vale of Glamorgan Classic Car Show will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 27 May, 2024 at Sully from 1000 to 1700. Entry passes to most of the ten attendees were handed out at the meeting. Meet up arrangements will be finalised and announced at next month’s meeting.
11 The invitation to attend the Field of Dreams Classic Vehicle Show on Sunday 2 June, 2024 at Swansea, has been accepted and details of those attending will be sent to the organisers next week. Meet up arrangements will be announced at next month’s meeting.
12 Barry reported on the preliminary discussions that had taken place at Caerphilly RFC concerning our July Wing Ding. Malcolm, Roger and Barry had attended on behalf of the region and were very shocked to hear that the site charge was being increased from £700 (2022) to £1,000 for 2024 and the rugby club was not providing a food facility (no longer have a chef).
Barry had previously circulated a Budget dated 11.04.24 to all members for information.
The following items were considered in detail by the meeting:
a. The site fee of £1,000 was agreed.
b. The proposed food arrangement using a local caterer’s chuck wagon was approved and the officers were authorised to finalise the menu and prices.
c. It was also agreed to explore the possibility of obtaining some preferential terms from the Green Lady, a pub local to the site.
d. The Portaloo and Skip provisions were agreed.
e. The Welcome Tent alone will be used as a dining area for both breakfast and dinner meals.
f. A disco will be provided on Friday and Saturday nights only at a cost of £160. We will also have our soloist Chrystal performing on Saturday night.
g. Vans will be made available to transport tables, chairs, the Kit and the Inscription Caravan.
h. Daily security will be provided by the members. The site will be secured for the night.
i. The Budget dated 11 April, 2024 which showed an anticipated loss of £1,464.00 (to be met from Reserves) was approved.
j. The camping area will be encircled by the campervans, motorhomes and caravans subject to the ground being suitable.
k. The bar opening times and prices will be negotiated by the Officers.
l. A lockable room will be provided to store the raffle prizes.
m. We have some Pot Noodles for our guests (thanks to Roger/Unilever), but other welcome food will need to be donated.
n. Van loading from the container will take place on Tuesday 16 July at Motomec’s premises in Abercwmboi.
o. The site will be set up on Wednesday 17 July.
p. The site will be taken down on Sunday 21 July with a field sweep. The container being reloaded from the vans on Monday 22 July. Help for all the above dates will be needed.
q. The Supplies Listing, (seeking numerous donations) will be circulated in advance of next month’s meeting.
r. A Ride Out(s) will be investigated by Lester, John, Stuart and Bruno.
13 Sponsorship is still required for our Wing Ding, please let me know if you know of anyone who might be interested.

17 AOB:
a. Malcolm reminded all members to ensure that they have cast their on-line vote for the GWOCGB National Committee positions that are open for change at the AGM.
b. He also appealed for reports on any run outs or trips taking place for the WingSpan regional entry.
18 The raffle raised £26.00 for regional funds, thanks to all who donated prizes and to members for buying tickets.The date of our next meeting is Sunday, 12 May, 2024, at Taffs Well RFC.
