We welcomed 22 members to the meeting, it was especially good to see Angela and Linda. It was also very good to see Irene looking so well after her recent heart stent operation – keep getting better. We also welcomed a potential new member, Keith from New Inn, Pontypool. Keith has a 1989 GL1500 combination and is in the process of restoring it.
Apologies had been received from Bill & Pinky, Gaynor, Bob & Sonja, Jeff & June, Ian & Jayne, Nigel & Sarah, Dave W, Les, Tink and Ken.
It was reported that six South Walians had played ten pin bowling last month and had a very good enjoyable evening. There would be no bowling this month due to many not being available.
Barry reported on the Classic Vehicle Show held at Panteg House, Griffithstown on 20 May, 2023. Six Wings had met at New Inn Retail Park and travelled the short distance to the House. We were joined by Stuart on his DCT and an ex-member Jim on his 1800. Unfortunately, Myra never made the event despite a number of attempts. Full report on the day in the July, 2023 WingSpan.
Vaughan had attended the Border Wing Ding which had been good, although numbers were down.
It was noted that three South Walians had attended the Vale of Glamorgan Classic Car Show at Sully held 29 May, 2023. Over three hundred classic cars were there with a few classic motor cycles as well. It had been a good day with excellent weather although a little windy.
Barry reported on the National Gardens Open Day at St Peters Church, Dinas Powys held earlier in the day. Eight Wings had attended and had a good afternoon especially the free cream tea that had been supplied, it was a pity that more of the public had not turned up. Weather was good until we were about to leave when we had a heavy storm.
Six Wings and eight South Walians had attended the Dutch Treffen in De Steeg. A good time was had by all. 333 inscriptions, 30 from the UK. Journeys were great albeit long and the weather during the day was nice, evenings however were cold. A new experience for Myra, John and Keith, in particular, Myra rising to the challenge to overseas riding. A full report on the trip will be in the July edition of the WingSpan.
Lester, Angela and Vaughan had attended the Broadlands Wing Ding at Trimley St Mary. A nice event, good site but only about thirty inscriptions – perhaps a sign of the times. Full report in the July edition of WingSpan
