6 Lester gave a comprehensive report on the Dutch Treffen attended by six Wings, five solos and one trike from South Wales. It had been an excellent trip and the use for the first time of the Harwich/Hook of Holland ferry had been very successful. The event itself had reduced numbers attending and a smaller number of traders, 260 inscriptions being recorded and the UK came second in the awards. A number of run outs took place including a trip to Biker’s Best. Unfortunately, Barry had not been able to attend following an accident at home on the morning of departure. A full report from Malcolm will be in the July edition of WingSpan.
7 Due to circumstances, no South Walians attended the Classic Vehicle Show at Panteg House, Griffithstown on Saturday 18 May, 2024. That said, we have fortunately been invited to next year’s Show.
8 Malcolm reported that eight Wings had attended the Vale of Glamorgan Classic Car Show on Monday 27 May, 2024 at Sully, three solos, four trikes and one quad (Barry). The morning started well with bacon butties at Barrys – thanks to Jane; we were welcomed by the organisers at the Show and took our usual parking place. The Show was well blessed with classic vehicles although traders were down on previous years. No prizes for us this year, the award going to a 1942 Harley. Weather was dry although a little windy. They allowed us to leave at about 1545 and a good day was had by all. Thanks to Eddie for the gazebo and to Irene and Myra for the refreshments.
9 Malcolm also reported on the Field of Dreams Classic Vehicle Show on Sunday 2 June, 2024 at Swansea. We met at Junction 33, M4 and travelled down to the Riverside Holiday Park at Gorseinon. Gerald got a little lost but caught us up just as we arrived at the Park at about 0945. Six Wings attended a very busy event, unfortunately, Myra did not make it as she had trouble with her trike – ultimately solved with a new battery. Plenty of food choices at the Show and a lot of traders attending. The weather was very hot and we managed to get away by about 1445. Thanks to Eddie and Irene for their contributions to our pitch.
