1 We welcomed 26 members to the meeting it was especially good to see Bob & Sonja, Jeff & June, Linda and Harry.
2 Apologies had been received from Bill & Pinky, Gaynor, Ian & Jayne, Nigel & Sarah, John, Bruno, Lester and Ken.
3 Malcolm provided an overview of the GWOCGB Open Meeting that had taken place on Sunday 22 October, 2023 at Bromsgrove. The full Minutes of both the National Committee Meeting and the Member’s Open Meeting that took place over the weekend can be found on the GWOCGB Website under the Gen Sec section.
4 The Emergency First Aid Course will take place on Thursday 16 November, 2023 from 0930 to 1630 at Dinas Powys Methodist Church, Mount Road, Dinas Powys, CF64 4DG. For those who have booked a place, please bring some lunch, tea/coffee will be provided.
5 The Christmas Away Weekend is confirmed as 1/3 December, 2023 at the Sandringham Hotel, Weston Super Mare. Sixteen members are attending, please arrive any time after 1400 on the Friday, dinner will be at 1800, please pay for your stay on arrival. A Secret Santa will be held on the Saturday evening with turkey and tinsel, if possible, Santa requires two presents from you, up to £5 each – one for Male and one for Female.
6 It was agreed that we would collect biscuits and chocolate selection boxes for the three Care Homes that we generally support each Christmas. Please bring your gifts to the next meeting.
7 The 2024 Dates for a Show with Merthyr Scooter Club at the Labour Club, Merthyr Tydfil have been provided, please watch this space for a precise Saturday date.
8 Barry presented the pertinent facts from the Vale of Glamorgan Food Bank monthly update. Unfortunately, at present Unilever were still not able to supply us with Pot Noodles to pass on to the charity.
9 If you wish to place an order for a SWW Polo Shirts at £12.50 each, please contact Barry urgently as he will shortly be placing a new order.

a. Weather permitting, Run Out to Three Cocks for lunch or coffee next Tuesday 14 November, meet 1100 at Abergavenny Bus Station. Please ensure you check your mobile phones to see if the Run Out is on.
b. GWOCGB Members Open Meeting at Bromsgrove Hotel & Spa on Sunday, 11 February, 2024 starting at 1100.
c. GWOCGB AGM at Bromsgrove Hotel & Spa on Sunday 21 April, 2024 starting at 1100.
d. South Wales Wing Ding at Caerphilly RFC Thursday 18 July to Sunday 21 July, 2024
11 Our finances as at 9 November, 2023 were:
a. Current Account £173.83, Deposit Account £3,946.88.
12 AOB:
a. Barry reminded the meeting that membership fees to GWOCGB were due on 15 December, 2023 for 2024. A Renewal Form (found on the GWOCGB Website or from Barry) is only necessary if you have changed last year’s details i.e., new Wing etc. Fees are Single Membership £28, Joint Membership £35. If you pay by BACS remember to quote your name and your postcode as the reference. If you pay by Standing Order, remember to change its amount with your Bank. As a Region we currently have 42 members plus partners, a very healthy number, let’s make sure we all renew.
b. Dave McFarland’s wife is makimg circular Christmas tree decorations of various styles at £2.50 each. If you wish to purchase some, please contact Barry.
c. Jeff reported that he had not been receiving for some time any items for the SWW Website. If you have a trip or do something a bit special, please take some photos and pass them on to Jeff. He also advised that recently the Site had received 7,000 hits so it is a popular resource for the Region. The SWW Website Member’s Page password has been changed. It is now: GWSIon
13 The raffle raised £35 for the Region many thanks to all.
14 The date of our next meeting is Sunday, 10 December, 2023, at Taffs Well RFC starting at 1830.
It was agreed that we have no regional Christmas Cards this year and instead we make a donation, please put your donation in an envelope and bring it with you to the meeting.
It was also agreed that at our next meeting we have some eats. If it is possible, would everyone attending please bring something savoury and something sweet.
