1 We welcomed 21 members to the meeting.
2 Apologies had been received from Tony & Helen, Bill & Pinky, Mark & Karen, Harry & Gaynor, Bob & Sonja, Nigel & Sarah, Jayne & Ian, Dave, Myra, June and Ken.
3 The Road Captain reported that it had not been possible to organise a Ride of Respect for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11. In the circumstances, the idea would not proceed.
4 Barry announced the recent sad death of “General” Graham Evans of West Wales Wings who was also an honorary member of South Wales Wings. Funeral arrangements will be advised in due course which will include a Wing escort.
5 Malcolm reported on the Classic Car Show that had been held in Fonmon Castle during September. Four South Wales units had attended – one trike, two solos and one campervan. As this had been the first Show of its kind the Castle had organised there were a few teething problems which we are sure will be sorted for the 2023 Show. Public were well represented and plenty of Classic cars and a few motor bikes were in attendance.
6 The possible invitation to take part in Caerphilly’s River of Light Lantern Parade on Saturday 3 December, 2022 1800 to 2000 is still up in the air. The organisers, Caerphilly County Borough Council, are trying to sort a suitable route which could include the Wings but this is proving to be quite difficult because of Health & Safety issues. Still waiting to hear if we are to be involved.
7 We have received an invitation to take part in the Sons of Santa Halloween Parade on Saturday 29 October from 1700. To meet at the Railway Coffee Shop in Port Talbot for a chat and food. Parade starts at 1900 and finishes at about 2030 in The Ancient Brit in Porthcawl. Show Lights a must. A few members indicated that they would attend noting that there is a £5.00 donation to charity to take part. Meeting arrangements to follow.
8 We have had a request from Wales Air Ambulance Community Fund Raiser whether they could come and give a presentation about their services. They are looking for financial support. Following a discussion, it was agreed that, for the time being, such an invitation would not be issued in view of the difficulties we had experienced with this organisation previously.
9 It was agreed that South Wales Wings would hold a Christmas Away Weekend on 9/10/11 December at The Sandringham Hotel, Weston Super Mare. Details had already been circulated. The weekend would consist of bed and breakfast for two nights, plus dinner Friday night, full three course Christmas dinner Saturday night, Entertainment on Saturday. Price £180 per couple for the weekend. Members to let Barry know urgently if they wish to attend.
10 The Annual General Meeting of South Wales Wings will be held on Sunday 13 November, 2022 starting at 1830. Venue at Taffs Well RFC. AGM business would include the Election of Officers, the distribution of our Charity monies and the approval of our annual accounts. Nominations for Officer Positions need to be submitted to Barry no later than 1 November, 2022. Existing Officers have agreed to re-stand.

b. The Motor Cycle Live Show is taking place at the NEC Birmingham between 19 and 27 November, 2022. On Thursday 24 November, 2022 Thunderoad Motor Cycles at Bridgend and Cwmbran are organising a coach trip to the event which will include Show entry tickets and travel at a cost of £36 per person. 14 The raffle raised £26 for Club funds thanks to all concerned for your continuing support.
The date of our next meeting, our AGM, is Sunday, 13 November, 2022, starting at 1830 at Taffs Well RFC. The normal monthly meeting will follow the AGM. Will inform you of the meet arrangements for the Halloween Parade later in the month
