1 We welcomed twenty-one members to the meeting; it was good to see Brian and Chris after their extended holidays and also recently joined members Gareth and Mike.

4 The Vale Foodbank Monthly newsletter for June had been received which highlighted the ongoing need for food support. Thank you to those members that donated food this month. We had received a thank you certificate from the Vale Foodbank for the nineteen kilograms of food we had donated in April, 2026.
5 South Wales Fire & Rescue Services intend to arrange a free Biker Down three-hour course. Any more names to Barry please.
6 Further update on the 2026 Christmas Away Weekend in Torquay. From Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December. Cost £119.95 per person, booking has now closed and we have 46 people attending, balance due 1 October, 2026. Heard from the Hotel that the tribute act is no longer Tina Turner but Brian Adams.
7 The 2026 South Wales Wing Ding will take place from 14 to 19 July, 2026 at Caerphilly RFC. Breakfast Food being organised by Myra.
8 Barry gave an update on the very successful recent meeting with Caerphilly RFC about the Wing Ding. Everything was moving along nicely with no problems anticipated.
9 Items needed for Wing Ding? Members were reminded of the supply items needed for the event; a list having been circulated. We were also looking for raffle prizes and donations. Any donated items to be made available at the next monthly meeting.
10 The SWW Caravan had now been removed from the Abercwmboi site, it no longer being fit for purpose. Thanks to Gerald and Malcolm it had now been dismantled. It was hoped that some salvage might result. Motomec Holdings Ltd, the storage site owner, had confirmed that no refund of monies paid in advance for storage would be available.
11 Barry reminded the meeting that members help would be needed from Tuesday 14 July (1000) with the loading from the Abercwmboi-based storage container of Wing Ding equipment into the loaned van. Wednesday 15 July we would be setting up the Caerphilly site, meeting at the rugby club at 1000. Our guests would start turning up from late Wednesday or early Thursday.
12 Wing Ding entertainment has been booked with hopefully background music on the Thursday and Friday evenings and a DJ and a guitarist/singer for the Saturday evening. Thanks to Kelvyn and Lester for organising.
13 Lester and Malcolm have been busy sorting out potential Run – Outs for our guests on the Friday and Saturday. Finalised arrangements will be announced at our next monthly meeting. It was hoped that this would include a visit to Brecon, Trago Mills and possibly, Barry Island where parking was being sourced.
14 SWW Pennants need restocking and the price from Sew Wing (embroiderer that advertises in the Wing Span) was £28 each which the meeting considered to be expensive. Stuart had investigated an alternative which was not satisfactory. Eddie had however, found an alternative at £21 each based on twenty being purchased. Following a discussion, it was agreed that any purchase be put on hold until after the Wing Ding when the regional finances could be re-evaluated.
15 No response had been received from the daughter of Mr Terry Williams, ex-member of South Wales Wings as regards a Ride Out so the request was deferred.
16 Barry provided a verbal report on the Ride Out for the 80-year-old OAP Phyllis which had taken place on Thursday 21 May. Three Gold Wings had attended with four members being present. The ride out had taken the lady over the Llangynidr Mountain Road on to Bwlch, ending up at Llangorse Lake where attendees enjoyed a drink courtesy of Phyllis who had travelled as a pillion on Barry’s Quad. The lady had thoroughly enjoyed herself and was so excited to have had a second Gold Wing ride, a year after her first. On her return to home via the same route, the family welcomed us all back with very grateful thanks. As a token of their appreciation, they kindly donated £50 to regional funds.
17 Malcolm gave an update on the Panteg House Classic Vehicle Show that had taken place at Griffithstown on Saturday 16 May, 2026. Seven Wings had taken part in a semi-successful static display. The morning had been excellent with plenty of the public being interested in the bikes on a lovely Spring morning. However, the afternoon had been disappointing as the weather turned to rain and cloud and the public disappeared. It was a question of leaving the site as soon as we were able to avoid the drizzle. Hopefully, next year will be better.
18 The 2026 Vale of Glamorgan Classic Vehicle Show at Sully Sports Fields on Bank Holiday Monday 25 May, 2026 had been amazing with a very, very hot day despite our two gazebos to try to keep the heat away. Nine Wings had been involved and the public put in a huge appearance, plenty of bike interest. Lots of Classic cars and motorcycles were showing and numerous traders selling their wares. Unfortunately, Bruno arrived late and had to park his trike outside the show entrance. A good Show and for which the organisers were grateful for our attendance. With the help of the Show Stewards, we were allowed to leave the site at about 1530, in advance of the waiting cars. The meeting thanked Jane for the refreshments provided at the assembly point.
19 We have received an invitation to attend the South Wales Classic Car Club Show at Cardiff City Football Stadium on Sunday 28 June, 2026 from 1130 to 1730. Exhibitors on site before 1030. Names to Barry soonest please.
20 Also, an invitation to attend the Brynmawr Classic Car Show in the Town Centre on Sunday 26 July, 2026 1000 to 1400. Names please to Barry.
21 Another invitation to attend the Swansea Motorcycle Show on Sunday 6 September, 2026 1000 to 1500 at the Swansea Bus Museum, SA1 7DA. Names to Barry please.
22 Finally, an invitation from Caerphilly Council to take part in Bargoed Christmas Light Switch on Saturday 14 November at 1615, Caerphilly Light Switch on Friday 20 November at 1730 and Blackwood Light Switch on Saturday 28 November at 1615. If we attend the Club will receive a payment.

a. Malcolm reported that some small Wing Ding donations had been received to date and he was also speaking to local motorcycle shops for raffle prizes. Christine and Roy were also badgering their local neighbours and friends for items.
26 The raffle raised £28 for regional funds thanks to Christine and those members who purchased tickets and donated prizes.
