Meeting Notes – March, 2026   

                                                      

1     We welcomed twenty-three members to the meeting including Mark Treen who we had not seen for some considerable time. It was also good to welcome Myra’s cousin from New Zealand.

2     Apologies had been received from Malcolm & Irene, Bill & Pinky, Bob & Sonja, Nigel & Sarah, Jeff & June, Phil & Joy, Bruno, Chris and Harry.

3     Barry handed out the 2026 GWOCGB Membership Cards for members who had renewed their membership. He reminded the meeting that anyone not renewing would not be able to access the GWOCGB Website. Any new renewals would have their cards sent to them by post.

4     If anyone has not had a CRASH card, please contact Barry.

5     Barry reported that he had received the Vale Food Bank Monthly newsletter for March which re-emphasised the continuing need for food items. He was delighted to note that many members of the meeting had donated most wanted Food Bank items and the collection of items would be continued at future monthly meetings when a new most wanted food items listing would be circulated.

6     South Wales Fire & Rescue Services intended to arrange a free Biker Down three-hour course. Any more names to Barry please?

7     Barry provided a further update on the 2026 Christmas Away Weekend in Torquay. It is from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December. Cost £119.95 per person, non – refundable Deposit £40 per person payable on booking which will cease on 31 May, 2026, balance due 1 October, 2026. So far, we have thirty-eight Goldwingers from across the regions booked in with many deposits already paid. Deposits can be paid by BACS: Account Name: South Wales Wings, Sort Code: 52-41-08, Account Number: 87654938.

8     2026 South Wales Wing Ding booked dates 14 to 19 July, 2026. Venue now confirmed as Caerphilly RFC, Bedwas RFC could not accommodate us. Still waiting to hear from the Caerphilly Club regards food facility.

9     Now had £600 invoice for storage of container and Wing Ding Caravan at Abercwnboi period to 31 October, 2026. This will be paid tomorrow by BACS.

10  Invitation to provide a Ride Out for 80-year-old OAP, same lady as last year, would like to go out again in April/May, 2026, date to be agreed at our April meeting.

11  Malcolm’s report on the GWOCGB Member’s Open Meeting was presented by Les and can be found as an attachment to these Notes. Members were also reminded about the planned open top coach tour around Oxford at the Treffen.

12  We agreed to accept the invitation to attend the Brecon Classic Motorcycle Show on Easter Saturday 4 April, 2026 from 1000 to 1600. Names taken and anyone else please contact Barry by the end of the month. Meeting arrangements to be advised.

13  We also agreed to accept the invitation to attend the 2026 Classic & Contemporary Motorcycle Show at Llanishen High School, Cardiff on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May, 2026 being organised by the Sunbeam Motorcycle Club. Names taken and anyone else please contact Barry soonest.

14  We further accepted the invitation to attend the Panteg House Classic Vehicle Show at Griffithstown on Saturday 16 May, 2026. Names taken and any further names to Barry soonest.

15  Finally, we accepted the invitation to attend the 2026 Vale of Glamorgan Classic Vehicle Show at Sully Sports Fields on Bank Holiday Monday 25 May, 2026 organised by the Dinas Powys Rotary Club. Names taken and anyone else please let Barry know by 31 March, 2026.

18  AOB:

a.    Barry reported that a new MOT Station for Goldwing Solos and Trikes has re-launched. Pearsons Garage, Salop Street, Penarth, CF64 1HF, Tel: 02920712115 is offering Wing MOT’s.

19  Roy and Chris have recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. The meeting congratulated them in the usual way. Roy and Chris replied by providing everyone with celebratory cake.

20  The raffle raised £27.00 for regional funds, thanks to Christine and everyone involved in buying tickets and donating prizes.

21   The date of our next meeting is Sunday, 12 April, 2026, at Taffs Well RFC starting at 1830 when Blood Bikes Wales will be attending and making a presentation.
